Create
Your Own Memory Verse Activities

While Kindergarten
children may still be in the pre-reading
stage of life many still know the power
of written words and the fact that they
are important for communicating.
This interest can be utilised in
teaching them about God's word and that
God communicates to us through the
Bible. The activities below are
designed to help children learn their
memory verses in a fun way and build on
their pre-reading/reading skills.
The following
templates can be used for creating your
own memory verse activities or
mini-crafts. An example of each is
also given (these correspond with the
Kindergarten lesson). See below
for instructions on creating and using
these activities.

Creating Activities
- Print chosen template directly
from the browser onto stiff
card. Use bright colours that correlate
with the theme of the
template. Write the words of
the memory verse onto each part (eg.
flower) of the activity.
- Alternatively, copy the template
and paste into a program such as
Microsoft Publisher and type the
memory verse onto each graphic piece
before printing out.
- Cut out and colour (if desired)
each piece of the activity.
Additional Suggestions
- Glue squares of coarse sandpaper
to each cut out piece to use on a
flannel board. Have children
place words of memory verse in
order.
- Attach magnetic strips to back for
fridge fun. Have children
place words of memory verse in
order.
- Use as a paper craft and create a
picture with the memory verse words
in proper order in the picture.
