Bible Cupcakes

I'm sure you'll work out from the pictures below that I am no cake decorator! But these simple ideas are a great alternative to paper crafts (parent's will really appreciate the fact that finally refrigerator art means it is edible!).

Ingredients

Cupcakes (see below for a recipe if wishing to start from scratch!)
Plain Icing
Tube of decorating gel/icing or decorative items such as chocolate chips
Caramel Popcorn

Method

Spread icing on top of cake.
Create eyes and mouth using decorating icing or chocolate chips.
Place caramel popcorn around face for a mane.

Ingredients

Cupcakes (see below for a recipe if wishing to start from scratch!)
White mini marshmallows
Plain icing
Tube of decorating gel/icing or decorative items such as chocolate chips

Method

Spread icing on top of cake.
Create eyes and mouth using decorating icing or chocolate chips
Cut mini marshmallows in half and place around the 'face' for wool.

Ingredients

2 Cupcakes for each child (see below for recipe idea)
Blue Icing
Silver Balls
Tube of decorating icing/gel or thin liquorice
Jelly babies
Ice cream wafers

Method

Decorate each cupcake with blue icing.
Cut a wafer into a triangle and poke into one side of one of the cakes.
Make eyes using silver balls and a mouth using decorative icing.
Place a jelly baby on top of other cake for Jonah.
Alternatively, place jelly baby inside each cake when cooking and decorate as a fish - children will find Jonah inside when they come to eat the cake!

Individual Cupcakes

If you are looking for a more extended cooking craft you may like to have the children make the cup cakes themselves using the recipe below.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon self raising flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon soft margarine
1 tablespoon pre-made milk and egg mixture (Mix one egg and 150 mls of milk to make 12 cakes)
